Flight System Assisted Operation Control in Complex Mission Situations
Overview and objectives
During a mass casualty incident a strict plan is required to categorize the patients, especially regarding their injuries and need of treatment. It is the objective of the FALKE project to gain targeted and highly detailed information of the accident and the medical condition of the involved persons by using a unmanned aerial system, UAS, that is equipped with several sensors.
Role of the FSD
The Institute of Flight System Dynamics, FSD, will develop an automated flight guidance and control concept for the operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle which is out of sight of the responsible operator. The UAS is expected to fly automatized to the place of action where it subsequently indicates the positions of the patients by flying over the whole area. Afterwards it flies to the identified position coordinates and hovers above the patients such that the required sensors are able to determine the vital parameters.
The path planning should be dynamic in order to give the scene coordinator the ability to request a second analysis of a distinct patient. Furthermore the UAS needs to react to potential collisions with other airspace users.
Since the UAS flies and hovers directly above people a high degree of reliability and safety is indispensable.The flight system should examine automatically whether the parameters which are required for a safe flight are within the intended range.
